What You'll Actually Do

Your day-to-day at Astera will vary significantly depending on your division. If you're in the Neuro & AGI group, you might be working on computational models of the brain, running large-scale neural simulations, or developing new machine learning architectures inspired by biological systems. Engineers work closely with research scientists to build the infrastructure needed for these complex models. In the Radial division, you might be focused on life sciences research or developing tools to promote open science and better data sharing across the scientific community. The work is highly collaborative, often requiring you to bridge the gap between abstract scientific theories and practical engineering solutions.

Compensation & Benefits

Astera offers highly competitive compensation, especially for a nonprofit. Based on job postings, Staff Software Engineers can expect salaries ranging from $200K to $500K, while Senior Software Engineers range from $100K to $400K. Research roles, such as Machine Learning Researchers, see ranges of $150K to $300K.
