AnyVan Limited

Making moving anything, anywhere miles better

Company Profile

Making Moving Miles Better

AnyVan was founded in 2009 by Angus Elphinstone and Ben Goor to tackle the inefficiency of half-empty vans on the road. The platform matches customers' delivery needs with existing routes of transport providers, helping to optimize capacity, reduce wasted miles, and lower carbon emissions. Today, AnyVan is the UK's favorite removal and delivery platform, having facilitated over 3 million moves and saving approximately 8.5 tonnes of CO2 each year.

A Culture of Progress Over Perfection

The culture at AnyVan is built on ambition, positive energy, and a "have fun, get it done" mentality. The team values progress over perfection, encouraging employees to be scrappy, make decisions quickly, and learn from launches rather than waiting. With a "one team, thinking big" approach, employees are expected to leave their egos at the door, embrace challenges, and celebrate wins together. The company is scaling fast with 25-30% year-on-year growth, but maintains a balance between being financially stable and remaining agile enough to avoid becoming overly corporate.

What You'll Actually Do

Depending on your role, you could be working in Engineering, Sales, Customer Service, Data Science, or Operations. Engineers work on building and optimizing the logistics technology that powers the platform, often dealing with complex routing algorithms and high-traffic systems. Sales and Customer Service teams are at the forefront of the business, ensuring smooth operations for customers and partners across multiple markets including the UK, Ireland, France, Spain, Italy, and Germany. The environment is fast-paced, and employees are encouraged to roll up their sleeves and make an impact.

Compensation & Benefits

AnyVan offers a comprehensive benefits package that goes beyond a generous base salary. In the UK, perks include 25 days of time off plus public holidays (and Christmas Eve on the company), an on-site gym, Vitality health care, enhanced sick and maternity pay, and a 5% employee/3% employer pension scheme. The offices feature free breakfast, in-house barista coffee, and weekly social events. South African employees receive similar benefits including health cover contributions and free parking or transport home after 7 PM. The company operates a hybrid working model, typically requiring 3 days in the office and 2 days remote.

The Interview Process

The hiring process at AnyVan is designed to be simple and speedy, generally consisting of three stages. It starts with a 15-30 minute intro video call with the Talent team to align expectations. This is followed by a 30-60 minute video call with the hiring manager to discuss the role in detail. The final stage is an in-person interview, which may include a short task or role-play depending on the position, allowing candidates to showcase their skills and see the office. The company values authenticity and looks for people who share their values rather than rehearsed answers.

Why Join / Why Not

Why Join: AnyVan offers a dynamic, fast-growing environment where you can make a tangible impact on reducing carbon emissions in the logistics industry. The company is committed to internal growth, with over 20% of the team promoted or pivoting into new roles recently. The benefits are strong, and the culture is supportive and fun.

Why Not: The fast-paced and rapidly changing environment might not suit those who prefer highly structured, corporate settings. Some employee reviews have noted that the workload can be demanding and there is legacy code that engineers may need to navigate.
