AllSpice.io (AllSpice Inc.)

AI-powered design reviews and version control for hardware engineering teams.

Company Profile

Redefining Hardware Development with Software-Like Workflows

AllSpice.io is building the automation engine that powers the next generation of circuit design. From smart vehicles to rockets and IoT devices, hardware engineering teams rely on AllSpice to catch errors early, automate repetitive checks, and collaborate efficiently. By bringing software-style version control, visual diffs, and AI-powered design reviews to the hardware world, AllSpice functions as the GitHub or GitLab for electronics.

A Culture of High Impact and Autonomy

The culture at AllSpice is built around empowering engineers to take ownership of their work. The team values autonomy, smart collaboration, and a fast-paced environment where individuals can make a tangible impact. Engineers here don't just write code; they work closely with customers to understand how hardware teams operate and translate those insights into robust platform capabilities. It's an environment that demands big-picture thinking while executing on the fine details.

What You'll Actually Do

As an engineer at AllSpice, you'll be at the forefront of the Forward Deployed Engineering initiative, working on the AllSpice Actions CI/CD framework. Your day-to-day will involve designing and deploying integrations with customers' existing toolchains, such as PLM and manufacturing tools. You'll build automation workflows using Python and Go, develop front-end interfaces with Vue and TypeScript, and maintain backend systems. The tech stack is modern, featuring Gitea, GitHub Actions, Docker Swarm, AWS, and Rust for utility functions.

Compensation & Benefits

AllSpice offers competitive compensation, with a Senior Software Engineer (Integrations and Automations) earning between $160K and $190K per year. In addition to a solid base salary, the company provides equity, health, dental, and vision insurance, generous PTO, and a home office stipend. The work model is flexible, offering remote options or hybrid arrangements out of their Boston and San Francisco offices.

The Interview Process

The interview process at AllSpice is designed to evaluate both technical prowess and the ability to manage ambiguity. Candidates can expect discussions centered around their past projects, architecture design, and problem-solving skills. While specific round-by-round details are not publicly detailed, the team values candidates who can demonstrate their fit through portfolios or specific examples of work that highlight their unique value.

Why Join / Why Not

Why Join: If you are passionate about bridging the gap between hardware and software and want to work on a platform that directly impacts ambitious innovations like autonomous vehicles and medical devices, AllSpice is an excellent fit. The company offers a high degree of autonomy, competitive pay, and the opportunity to shape the future of hardware development tools.

Why Not: The role requires significant self-direction and the ability to manage ambiguity gracefully. If you prefer highly structured environments with rigid top-down directives, or if you are not comfortable working directly with customers to figure out complex integrations, this fast-paced startup environment might not be for you.
